In late 2024, Jeanette joined Second Stitch Foundation programming after years of incarceration, addiction, and long-term homelessness. She began using drugs at 11 and had been in and out of jails and institutions since age 18, experiencing homelessness for nearly eight years. At the start of 2025, she was living in a shelter with her young son, without reliable transportation, and carrying just over $6,000 in debt with a credit score in the low 300s. Over the past year, Jeanette consistently attended Foundation classes, workshops, and events. She has since moved into her own apartment with her son, paid off her car, worked out of debt, raised her credit score above 620, and continues to participate in programming while supporting others whenever she can.
